OUGD603: Design Publication — Cover Production

After researching into large format clothbound publications, it was really exciting to be producing one myself.

Choosing the hard cover fabric:

Measuring up the mount board (I had the book printed and perfect bound without a cover at Hobbs - they unfortunately do not do clothbound covers):

Measuring and cutting the fabric:

The board glued to the cloth:

Cutting the corners:

Smoothing down the cloth, to remove any air bubbles:

Glueing the edges round the board:

Patching a gap that was left:

Gluing the cover to the book was extremely nerve racking. Getting the book printed cost almost £100, so I really did not want to mess it up.

Adding A Cover

I did not want to risk screen printing the cover, so vinyl was applied. This was an easy process, but just took time to line up the vinyl properly before sticking it down.
