OUGD603: Design Publication — Letterforms 1

As mentioned in a previous post, the a lot of the content of the book will digitalised letterforms from the scanned in books I've bought. This post (as well as some that will be following) will show this progression. 

Digitalising a blackletter font: 




45 degree angles were used to keep the characters consistent:










As you can see, the blackletter characters were really complex to create:





The uppercase E, before curves are added:

Getting the curve right on the uppercase S was difficult;

Here is another example. Apart from the slightly expressive R, the rest of the characters were easy to create:





Since I was lacking sans serif's, and no italics whatsoever,  the example below was digitalised:











all the characters were designed at a specific angle, as shown below:
