OUGD603: Brief 13 — Something More: Crit Feedback & Defining The Brand

Final Crit — 8th Dec

Chosen idea:

OPEN
— Books Opening
— Inviting
— A sense of community
— Completely reinventing the library into a much more casual, not 'council' environment.

Why not hot food?

Bringing a retail experience.

The combination of food and reading.

Can be relevant to location.

PDF's for the next Crit.

— Consider the books that would be available.

Dalziel & Pow - Argos Digital Concept

Defining The Brand

Open is....

- The first ever bar / library.

- A retail experience, combined with the benefits of the access to a large amount of free reading materials.

- A relaxing environment for heavy or light reading.

- An archive for a refined selection of publications, independent magazines and zines.

- Sectioned for different users. The bar itself is an area for socialising, whilst specific rooms are for reading and silence (apart from quiet, selected music).

- Trusting. Members can eat or drink whilst using books. At membership stage, a £15 deposit is taken, just incase an accident happens with the book. This also has to be paid again before the member can take out books again.

- Has a menu with 'books of the week', indie mags of the week' and 'zine of the week'. A menu will also be provided for the books.
