Below is an ISSUU document, containing my final boards for Intern Mag:
Evaluation
This one day brief was good fun, as prior to this I did not
know much about independent magazines. Alec’s story of setting up Intern Mag
through crowd funding showed that there has been a huge boom in independent
magazines, and they’re a great market to be part of right now.
The brief itself was challenging, mainly coming up with a
set idea for a magazine. The idea that the magazine could be on the subject
matter of ‘anything’, made it difficult to narrow down our ideas to something
interesting, and with an audience. I enjoyed coming up with our concept, and
feel that as a magazine it could be really interesting. Designing just a cover was new to me, and was
more of a challenge, as the design could not be informed by any of the content.
The cover sleeve worked fantastically with the concept, but
I feel the design itself could have more time spent on it, as there was no
development whatsoever. I was pleased with the aesthetic for something worked
on for a couple of hours, but ideally would have liked to have spent more time
pushing it and experimenting more.
